About the Town Clerk And Chief Executive's Department

The Town Clerk and Chief Executive is responsible for the management and operations of Derry City Council. He reports to the Council at its monthly meeting and works with a team of officers to deliver the services of Derry City Council.

He is also the principal advisor to the Council and the Mayor, and with the Mayor he ensures that the Council fulfils its role of Civic Leadership. In addition, the Town Clerk's office processes the Mayor's programme and events.

In view of the Mayor's busy schedule, it is essential that each invitation is put in writing at least two weeks before the date of the event. If necessary a member of staff from the Town Clerk's office will contact the relevant organisers and discuss the event in more detail.
