As part of our Breathing Places "Year of Action" Derry City Council, in association with it's partners have organised a number of FREE public events that are open to all. Events are taking place throughout the summer months in Bay Road Park and St Columb's Park. This mix of wildlife workshops and picnics in the park ensures that you and your family can enjoy a fun day out within the surrounds of the natural outdoor environment. For further information visit www.derrycity.gov.uk/biodiversity or call Julie Corry on 02871365151.
If you are looking for something to do for all the family this Summer why not visit one of the four museums on offer through Derry City Council's Heritage and Museum Service. A world of wonder awaits the whole family at the Tower Museum this summer with a number of exciting and interactive exhibitions that will delight young and old and provide everyone with a memorable day out. A special family backpack for the Armada Shipwreck Exhibition is available for children containing items such as puzzles, colouring pads, pens, pencils and an MP3 information player, compass, pretend artefacts and a jigsaw of the Spanish Armada that will extend the fun of a day trip to the Tower Museum beyond the city walls. Why not come along to the Big Dig on Archaeology Day June 20th in the Tower Museum or check out the Percy French Exhibition at the Foyle Valley Railway.
In addition why not visit the Harbour Museum with its eclectic collection of objects on display recalling the city's maritime connections. The Workhouse Museum has displays on social life in the 19th Century and an exhibition of Derry during World War II and the Foyle Valley Railway reopened for the summer brings you back in time to the days when four railway companies operated in and out of the city.
