Visit to the Guildhall

Monday 8th – 12th June 2011
Guildhall, Derry

Is your group interested in building in a citizenship activity into its Summer Scheme?

This activity is especially designed for youth and schools (and can be adapted for adults).
Meet a councilor, do a mock debate, see the building etc.
Admission: Free
Groups: Age groups 11-21 works best. Minimum group size 15. Maximum 50
Duration: Activity lasts 2-3 hours

Refreshments can be provided but groups are responsible for their own transport to and from the Guildhall.

Tower Museum

Megaliths of Northern Ireland
Do you confuse your portal tombs with your court tombs? Ever wonder what the meaning of the standing stone that farmer’s field is? Then visit this touring exhibition which explains the history of the standing stones which dot the Ulster countryside.

Foyle Valley Railway Museum

This museum is dedicated to telling the rich railway history of the city and surrounding area.  At the heart of the exhibition is a recreated railway station platform and within the displays visitors can find out about the various railway companies which once operated out of the city.

Take time this summer to visit the Foyle Valley Railway Museum and recapture the bygone days of rail travel, fun for all the family.

Summer Camp 2011

Cultural Events

A Celebration of Colmcille at Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin
The Colmcille Summer School returns for its eleventh year at Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin with a packed programme of music, discussion, Irish language and film.

The week-long celebration takes place from Wednesday 8th June until Sunday 12th June and explores the legacy of Colmcille in a modern context – a legacy that touches on many aspects of history, culture and identity.
