The One Plan describes how the City will be transformed by fundamentally changing the way it does business, and being creative in how organisations and individuals resource and manage themselves. It is now imperative the city builds on the momentum and goodwill to immediately implement the actions contained within this Plan.

Speaking at the launch the Mayor and co-chair of the Derry~Londonderry Strategy Board, Cllr Maurice Devenney outlined the importance of this One Plan: “This is our opportunity to shape the city’s future through a robust series of interventions that will help everyone realise their potential. We will strengthen and grow the local economy by improving health, expanding education and increasing the numbers in employment thus greatly improving our quality of life.”

Chairman of Ilex and Co-chair of the Strategy Board, Sir Roy McNulty said: “This is a very important day for Derry~Londonderry. Ultimately, the implementation of this One Plan for Derry~Londonderry has the potential to positively impact on the lives of everyone and to change the look and feel of the city for years to come. We owe it to the people of the City and in particular the 45% of our young people under 25 who reside here to get this right. We recognise that we face challenges but we also have many opportunities to become truly place making. This Plan provides the roadmap that can allow us to meet those challenges, and achieve our vision of a competitive, creative, connected and caring city. The prize is great, by 2020 we could see £500million additional wages and profits in the economy and improve the fiscal balance of Derry~Londonderry by some £200 million per annum"
