Opening times extended at Recycling CentresThursday, 30 September 2004Opening times at Derry City Council’s five Civic Amenity Recycling Centres have been extended following a review of operational procedures. The centres located at Pennyburn Industrial Estate, Brandywell Show Grounds, Glendermott Road, Eglinton and Claudy will now be open to the public from 8.30 a.m. through to 5.00 p.m. inclusive Monday to Saturday. The chairman of the Environmental Services Committee, Councillor Gerard Diver welcoming the extended opening hours said he believed it would greatly benefit the public. He commented: “We all lead very busy lifestyles and the extended opening hours at the sites will make the recycling of rubbish more convenient for the public. I am delighted that the Council has revised the hours and believe it will have a very positive impact on the public.” Members of the public can avail of the following recycling facilities at all five centres – paper; cardboard; glass bottles and jars; plastic bottles; waste oils; green waste; scrap metals; fridges/freezers and TV monitors.
