Traffic Information – Launch Of Peace Bridge, June 25th & 26th

In the lead up to the launch of the Peace Bridge and weekend of festivities, June 25th and 26th, Ilex urc would advise the following:

Traffic arrangements: Traffic delays are expected in and around Queen’s Quay from 1.00pm until 3.00pm on Saturday, June 25th. Road closures are expected at Queen’s Quay.

Weekend parking: The car park on the corner of Foyle Street and Whittaker Street (old City Hotel site) will be closed for the weekend.

On the city side The public is advised to use normal car parks and on-street parking.

On the Waterside There will be no parking at Ebrington and parts of the Limavady Road on June 25th or 26th.

The main car park at St Columb’s Park Leisure Centre and the adjacent hockey pitch will be operational on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, June 25th access to Browning Drive will be restricted to residents and no traffic will be permitted on St Columb’s Road between early morning and 4.30pm.

On Sunday, June 26th parking will be permitted on one side only of St Columb’s Road

Fireworks: The Fireworks spectacular will take place at 10.30pm on Saturday 25th June, after which the public artwork, Mute Meadow, will be illuminated. The public is advised that the best viewing area for Fireworks is along Queen’s Quay. Please note that viewing opportunities at the Peace Bridge are minimal and limited to a small number of viewing public.
