BBC Radio 1 Announces One Big Weekend Line-Up

As part of BBC Music Live, BBC Radio 1 have revealed the line up for the first of its own unique mini festivals in 2004. One Big Weekend takes place on 24th and 25th April in Prehen Fields, Derry-Londonderry. The event will take place across two days, offering 20,000 music fans the chance to come and enjoy a mix of world class DJs and live artists, all for free. Over the weekend Saturdays will be dedicated to dance and Sundays given over to live artists and bands.

On Saturday April 24th the day kicks off at 1pm until 10.30pm and the massive Saturday line-up is :

Doors for the event open at 11.00am until 7.00pm and hosts on the stage will be Radio 1 DJs Chris Moyles, Colin Murray, Edith Bowman, Vernon Kaye, Scott Mills and Spoony

There has been unprecedented excitement and anticipation locally over our plans for these shows, now it's all confirmed, with a top class bill, the huge tent will have a fantastic atmosphere. If your not lucky enough to get hold of a ticket, you can hear it all live on Radio 1”

Derry Mayor, Cllr Shaun Gallagher said “We are delighted to welcome BBC Music Live and One Big Weekend to the city. This is a unique event, which puts us centre-stage in a marathon programme of music that will appeal to audiences across the region. The city has an excellent reputation for hosting international events and I am in no doubt that participants and audiences will enjoy the welcome and warmth which the city is famous for.”

The One Big Weekend ticketed event will be free to attend and 10,000 tickets will be available for each day. Radio 1 will host two special ticket giveaways on Saturday 10th April for the dance day and Friday 16th April for the bands day in Guildhall Square, Derry-Londonderry to give everyone the chance to get hold of the biggest ticket in town. The ticket office opens at 5pm on Saturday 10th & 8am on Friday 16th. The ticket offices will close once all the tickets are gone.

In addition to One Big Weekend, Radio 1 will be holding an evening of workshops, seminars, demo-listening and music business advice sessions hosted by Scott Mills at the Nerve Centre in Derry - Londonderry on Friday April 23rd from 5pm - 9pm, all for free.
