Flight of the Earls and Plantation commemoration

In 2007 Derry City Council’s Heritage and Museum Service will begin an ambitious seven year programme based on the Flight of the Earls and Plantation Commemoration. 2007 is the 400th anniversary of the Flight of the Earls. This event is seen as a key factor leading to the Plantation of Ulster.
The Heritage and Museum Service intends to deliver a range of educational programmes, lectures and exhibitions to mark these key events in our history.

Wider Story of Derry- PDA’s

As part of the Derry City Council’s Walled City Public Realm Plan PDA’s (Personal digital assistants) are currently being developed for the Wider Story of Derry. These pocket-sized computers aim to enhance the visitor experience of the city by narrating the Wider Story of Derry through sounds, photos, video and text. The PDA’s will form part of an overall visitor experience, which incorporates various other elements such as visitor information boards on and around the walls.
