Life on board was not always harsh. Whenever the crew had some spare time they took part in various activities. Songs and dances accompanied by music were often a favourite. During the excavation of La Trinidad Valencera uncovered the remains of a musical instrument, called a cittern were recovered. Cards, dice and other simple ball games were also played.
