Altan - Award winning world class musicians Altan will perform their award winning repertoire ranging dramatically from sensitive and touching old Irish songs, all the way to hard hitting reels and jigs.
The Henry Girls - Joleen, Lorna and Karen McLaughlin – are three sisters from Inishowen in Co Donegal. Their music is an eclectic mix of folk, blues and traditional Irish – with ‘spine-tingling’ three part harmonies.
Kintra - Under the musical direction of renowned fiddle player Matt McGranaghan, Kintra performs Irish & Scottish Music, Song and Dance in a colorful stage show. This is fusion of cultures – sure to set feet tapping and pulses racing.
Different Drums of Ireland - Different Drums brings the indigenous drums of Ireland, the Lambeg and the Bodhran together for the first time ever in celebratory performance. The music also features the Uilleann or elbow pipes, whistles, guitar, snares, long drum, 4 voices and is driven by the engine of the African djembe. Adding myriad percussion and other instruments to original and traditional songs makes a unique and exciting combination of traditions and sounds. A unique celebration of cultural diversity and linkages.
Liz Doherty - Dr Liz Doherty from Buncrana is lecturer at University of Ulster Derry Magee in Irish Traditional Music. As a performer, she was a founding member if bands such as Nomos and Fiddlesticks, she has toured and performed widely with The String Sister and with Riverdance for a brief period. Liz will not only perform at Milwaukee but will share some of her own special magic with students at the hedge school events.
Fidil - All hailing from Donegal what makes Fidil’s achievements unique is their diverse and groundbreaking use of fiddles coupled with the depth of the lore and tunes of the Donegal fiddle tradition, makes them one of the most unique and entertaining ensembles in Irish traditional Music.
The Screaming Orphans - The Screaming Orphans are four funny, high spirited musically obsessed sisters with the good fortune to have been raised in the magic of Bundoran in Co Donegal. Originally accompanied by their Mum and Dad, when they formed their own band they became the Orphans and haven’t looked back since!
Moya Brennan - In her music making, Moya has never been content to nestle within comfortable boundaries. From an early age she trod the boards with her father Leo before going on to share, with her band Clannad, an enlightening discovery of the extraordinary wealth of Celtic history and melody on her doorstep. Clannad sent tremors through the world of traditional music. With Harry's Game they took the Irish language and its melodies to places that it had never been before. Moya has developed an individuality which has already shown itself in her expanding body of work. When an artist's career can often be measured in months, hers spans decades. The power of her whispered tones and the beauty of her music touch the soul. Gently, yet persistently, her songs and her music are redefining Irish music.
