Health and Safety Information and Advice CentreThe official launch of the Health and Safety Information and Advice Centre (IAC) took place in the Central Library, Foyle Street, Derry in October 2001, and the facility is now available to the public free of charge during library opening hours. The IAC is a pilot partnership project between Derry City Council, the HSENI and the Western Education and Library Board. The Centre is designed to provide a useful range of health and safety information to the public in a comfortable and relaxed environment. The facility at the Library offers a wide range of information that is
easily accessible in a number of formats including electronic, audiovisual
and print. Alternative formats such as braille, disc, audio cassette and
minority ethnic languages are available upon request. A wide range of health and safety videos are available and these may be borrowed through the normal library-lending scheme. Customers can research health and safety information on the internet and free internet access is provided across a number of key health and safety sites. So whether you are a health and safety professional, safety representative, an employer, employee or a student, whatever your role in the workplace, or whatever your needs, the IAC will provide the information your require.
