Traffic restrictions affecting residents and businesses along the route
Saturday, 13th September 2008
The Tesco Waterside Half Marathon will take the runners along a route that includes Gransha Grounds, Strathfoyle, Maydown Road and part of the Limavady bound dual carriageway. Please be advised that some traffic restrictions will take affect for the short duration of the event, on Saturday 13 September 2008.
Unfortunately some disruption is inevitable, but in order to minimise it and to avoid delays we would ask you to consider the following:
• Can you avoid travelling along the affected route during the event?
• If you are travelling during the event please follow the signed diversions. Police and race marshals will be present to provide advice.
• If you are travelling towards the city from Temple Road/Strathfoyle during the event, please use the Maydown Road.
• If the route goes past your house, if possible, please do not park your vehicle on the road in order to keep the route clear and to allow the race to pass safely.
• Please drive carefully - Remember there will be people running on the road!
We apologise for any inconvenience that may be caused to you by these traffic restrictions. As stated, we will make every effort to minimise any disruption. Please bear with us, enjoy the event if you can and remember that disruptions to normal traffic will only be for a very short time.

This year we are delighted to welcome as our new sponsor Tesco. We appreciate their support and look forward to our partnership until 2010.
Our generous £5000 plus prize fund which covers categories from Under 20’s to Over 70’s is in place again. We have ribboned medals, commemorative printed T-shirts and sports drinks for all finishers.
Our long-term beneficiary, Foyle Hospice, is joined this year by a new official charity - Aware Defeat Depression - and we trust many of you will respond to their requests to consider them for sponsorship.
We expect the proven quality of the Waterside to ensure a record field for 2008 and as usual we have our generous prize fund. Club runners are reminded that this year prizes will be strictly awarded on the basis of the age category nominated by each runner on the entry form. Entrants for the half marathon, run and walk, must be 17 years of age or over on the day of the event.
Half Marathon Team Relay
Growing in popularity is the three-person team relay. In 2007 there were over 25 teams competing. Each team member will run approximately 4.4 miles. The exact changeover points will be detailed in the race pack.
