Foyle Hospice
“Foyle Hospice is delighted to be involved again with the Waterside Half Marathon and would like to thank the organisers for choosing the Hospice to benefit from the efforts of the participants in the Half Marathon.
We are deeply indebted to all those who respond so positively to our fundraising in the community and are very appreciative of their ongoing support and generosity for a service, free of charge to patients and their families.

Aware Defeat Depression
“Aware Defeat Depression is the only local mental health charity that cares exclusively for people with the devastating and potentially life threatening illness of depression, which affects someone in every family in Northern Ireland. Last year 291 people, that’s at least five people every week, took their own life, and sadly many of them were young people from Derry. In 75% of suicides depression is present and so we are delighted that this year the organisers of the Waterside Half Marathon have chosen us as one of their nominated charities to receive sponsor money from race participants. As we are a small charity we rely very heavily on your donations to run our community based support groups, helpline and education programmes, so by raising money for Aware you will be helping us to save lives that might otherwise be lost to suicide. We thank you for this with all our heart.”
Sharon Sinclair, Chief Executive, Aware Defeat Depression
