Support Grants 1 April 2008 – 31 March 2009

Council will only accept Applications on a Current (2008-2009) Application Form for this round of funding.

This Support Grant Aid package comes in three sections:-

Support grants for projects taking place during the financial year from 1 April 2008 – 31 March 2009 will be open for applications from 1st February 2008 until 31st December 2008.

Groups are encouraged to apply at least two months in advance of the start date of their project to allow time for processing of applications.

Derry City Council Grant Aid programmes aim to encourage and facilitate activities which enhance and develop the Derry City Council area and improve the quality of life for its citizens.

Applicants must clearly indicate that their application is made on behalf of an organisation which benefits the Derry City Council area. Council will only award grants to projects within the district council boundaries.

Council will not fund activities related to the promotion of religious or political interests, profit making organisations or the repayment of debts or retrospective grants. Council will not fund events, festivals etc. which have the primary purpose of raising money for charities.

Council will not fund applications for specific projects which are clearly the responsibility of other statutory bodies. Consideration will only be given to those projects which benefit the wider community.

Council will fund hire charges for Council owned venues and Council owned equipment for specific projects.

Catering/Refreshments/Hospitality can be funded to a maximum of £250. Council do not fund alcohol.

Council reserve the right to cap the amount spent on accommodation depending on the needs of the project. Council rates will be used as a guideline.

If multiple applications are received from separate organisations for the same event or what is perceived as the same event (consider time frame, location and history of event) Council will consider these applications collectively. The maximum grant available will be £3000.

Applicants must be a constituted group/organisation, have a list of committee members, produce annual reports or minutes of an annual general meeting and produce certified accounts or records of income and expenditure for grant aid support. All groups must have appropriate insurance cover.
Projects must comply with all domestic legislation and to comply with provisions and requirements of all and any act of parliament, orders of Council, statutory instruments, regulations and bye-laws. Where a Project is responsible for the employment of staff, - employment conditions and practices must comply with all the relevant employment legislations and should take account of current good practice in relations to employment rights and equal opportunities.
Under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 Derry City Council encourages applicants to have due regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity and to have regard to the desirability of promoting good relations between persons of different religious belief, political opinion or racial group. If you have a policy in relation to this please attach it to your application.

Please provide Child Protection Policy if applicable to your organisation. Grant Aid to these projects depend on receipt of your Child Protection Policy.
