Special Initiatives

The department organised a health and safety seminar on the 24 October 2005 specifically designed for the Chinese community. The interpreter from the local Chinese Welfare Association the Sai Pak Chinese Community Project translated each session of the seminar into Cantonese. This helped to overcome language barriers.

A major focus for the seminar was gas safety. All delegates were provided with a comprehensive information pack that included a gas safety sign in Cantonese that could be displayed in the kitchens of their premises (see below). The seminar was very well received and valued by all involved.
