Foyle Regional Energy Agency

Foyle Regional Energy Agency (FREA) was established in May 1997 by Derry City Council. The Council is joined in funding this initiative by Strabane District Council, Limavady Borough Council, NIHE, NIE, Coolkeeragh Power Plc and Electricity Supply Board.

The key roles of FREA are to encourage domestic energy efficiency and support renewable energy projects (solar, wind, hydro, geo-thermal etc) throughout the Foyle region. Domestic energy efficiency is provided through out Energy Efficiency Advice Centre (FREEPHONE 0800 512 012) and services Strabane, Derry, Limavady, Coleraine and Magherafelt District Councils. We provide free, impartial and independent advice to householders, community groups and small to medium size businesses on no cost and low cost ways to save energy and money. Information is provided on current grants and schemes. This work is further consolidated through our community, schools, council and business programmes by talks, presentation stands and literature.

Energy efficiency means saving energy, saving money and helping the environment.

The Energy Saving Trust Advice Centre offers free and impartial advice and support on energy efficiency, renewable energy and low carbon transport, to all householders in Northern Ireland via a freephone 0800 512 012. To find out how you can make your home more energy efficient, you can also complete a FREE Home Energy Check online
