Boats and Punts

Foyle Days welcomes the boating community from throughout the North West. Visitors this year will include, Coleraine Yacht Club, Foyle Paddlers, Foyle Punts, Lough Foyle Yacht Club, Lough Swilly Yacht Club, Moville Boat Club, RNLI and Foyle Search and Rescue and more.........

 

Foyle Rowing Club
Saturday only, May 21, 11.00am – 6.00pm

Enjoy the display of rowing punts from Moville. The Foyle Punts were small working boats used for salmon or herring and long-line fishing within the sheltered waters of Lough Foyle. This year members will take part in the Colmcille Challenge in July, see Upcoming Events for further details.

 

Derry City Rowing Club
Saturday and Sunday, May 21 – 22, 11.00am – 6.00pm

No strangers to the Foyle, Derry City Rowing Club, established in 1861, is one of the oldest clubs in Ireland. Competing at national and international level members have gained international recognition. Come along and meet their members and learn how to get involved.

 

Lough Foyle Yacht Club ‘Dinghy Race’
Saturday only, May 21, 1pm

Get a grandstand view of the Lough Foyle Yacht Club’s annual Foyle Days ‘In the City’ dinghy race. Dinghies will gather on Pontoon after 12.30pm for a 1pm start.

LPHC Moville Open Yacht Race
Sunday only, May 22, 2.30pm

See the start of this annual race with a great display of yachts from throughout the region as they navigate their way down the Foyle to finish at Moville. Yachts will make their way to starting line from 2.00pm.

 

Clipper Round the World Yacht Race 2011-2012   
Saturday and Sunday, May 21 – 22, 2011
