Don’t get your fingers burnt this Halloween!
Having fireworks at home can be great fun, as long as they are used safely. Although most people use fireworks responsibly, there are many firework related accidents each year.
Figures show that more children than adults get hurt by fireworks. In Northern Ireland last year over a four week period from the 17th of October to the 14th of November 2010 a total of 47 people were treated at A & E Departments and minor injury units, 4 were children under the age of 5 years and almost 2/3 of the injured were under the age of 18 years.
The most common site of injury was to the wrist and hand.
