The Council’s Corporate Plan outlines the Council’s

Code of Practice on Producing Information
The Code of Practice is aimed at ensuring that Council
information including that continued in publications, leaflets,
posters etc., is accessible to as wide a range of people as possible,
including those individuals who belong to any of the Section 75
groups. |

Tourism Strategy
The Council’s Tourism Strategy aims to make Derry
and the North West the premier tourism city and region within
Northern Ireland. The Strategy outlines the short term goal of
enhancing the tourism sector as it currently operates within Derry
and the North West and in the longer term to create a dynamic
and trend setting tourism which will position Derry and the North
West to the fore of tourism. |

Policy on Attendance
The Policy on Attendance (includes Procedures for Notification
of Absence due to sickness or industrial injury and Formal Review
of Sickness Absence; Special Leave Policy and Work Life Balance
Policy). These policies identify the circumstances in which paid
and unpaid leave may be permitted and explains entitlements to
leave in different circumstances. It also recognises the caring
and other responsibilities of staff and promotes a work life balance. |

Community Relations Strategy Plan
The Council's Community Relations Strategy Plan aims to create
a pluralist inclusive society where all communities, regardless
of religion, race, age, denomination, sexuality or gender can
live and belong within a shared city and district. It also aims
raise awareness of all rich cultural diversity within the Derry
City Council area;to work towards understanding and healing of
communities traumatised through 30 years of conflict;and to develop
a greater understanding and respect for all the different traditions
and cultures. |

Grant Aid
Derry City Council’s Grant Aid Programmes aim to encourage
and facilitate activities, which enhance and develop the Derry
City Council are and improve the quality of life for its citizens.
Applicants whose projects meet both the overall selection criteria
and the objectives set out for each of the Grant Aid programmes
can apply for funding from Derry City Council. |

Policy Statement on Domestic Violence and Guidelines
for Managers
Derry City Council recognises that domestic violence is a crime.
It is not a private or personal matter, but is socially harmful
and disruptive. It is also recognised that domestic violence can
impinge on an individual's work performance and ultimately on
service provision. As one of the largest employers in the City,
the Council will take all practicable steps to deal with domestic
violence through support offered to its employees.
