Join Derry’s Ancient Tree Hunt

Help the Woodland Trust to find and map all the old, fat trees across the UK by looking for those in Derry~Londonderry~Doire.
Ancient trees are living relics of incredible age that inspire in us feelings of awe and mystery. They have helped shape our history, and will help shape our future if we let them. Can you help us to reveal their secrets, discover the wildlife they sustain and unlock their stories gathered over centuries.

Have you seen an ancient tree in Derry? Take part in the Ancient Tree Hunt by finding, measuring and recording old and ancient trees – you can either spot them while you are out and about, or perhaps you already know about one in your local community, or even have one in your garden.

Ancient Tree Hunt

You can record your tree on the Woodland Trust’s website (http://www.ancient-tree-hunt.org.uk/recording) or by contacting Derry City Council’s Biodiversity Officer (see contact information below). You can even upload your pictures and stories about ancient trees on the Woodland Trust website. Or simply tell us when you have visited an ancient tree.

For more information on the Ancient Tree Hunt go to the Woodland Trust’s website or contact Derry City Council’s Biodiversity Officer.
