Political Composition of Derry City Council

Elected Members

Derry City Council is made up of 30 elected members (Councillors), elected every four years, serving in wards, grouped into the following five District Electoral Areas:

• Cityside;
• Northland;
• Rural;
• Shantallow; and
• Waterside.

The Political Composition of Derry City Council as elected in May 2005 is:

• Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) 14
• Sinn Fein (SF)      10
• Democratic Unionist Party (DUP)     5
• Ulster Unionist Party (UUP)      1
