The Derry Access ForumDerry City Council, through their partners in the Derry Access Forum, have given a firm commitment in their Access Plan 2009 -2014 to provide opportunities for all its citizens to enjoy access to the countryside, city parks and urban greenways in all its forms. This access provision is delivered by the Derry Access Forum with support from the Council’s City Engineer’s Department. The Access Officer is responsible for the assertion, protection, opening and management of public rights of way, the provision of new paths and other countryside projects with access and environmental elements.
Derry – Londonderry Access Plan (2009 – 2014)This plan has been produced by the Derry Access Forum/Routes Development Group to inform the development of cycling and walking routes, both urban and rural across the City Council Area. It advocates a strategic approach to the planning, development and promotion of existing and future greenways and on-road provision over the next 5 years (2009-2014) and is set within the wider context of a 20-year vision to develop 105km of urban routes by 2019.
