Wildcats Club Programmes

Wildcats Active8 clubs offer a unique form of physical activity aimed at children aged 5-11 yrs old. The Wildcats programme has developed specific lesson plans that develop building blocks for all sports. The Wildcats programme seeks to develop childrens skills for sport and confidence in a fun, safe and challenging way.
Active8 Pathway
A pathway has been developed for Wildcats Clubs which ensures a natural progression for children over a 4 level process. Children are introduced to fundamental skills for sport during level 1 – wildcubs (2010-2011). These skills are further developed during levels 2 &3- Bronze & Silver .In level 4 – Gold these fundamental skills are applied to specific sports within a Multi sports Academy. Upon completion of the pathway children can then go on to join a quality junior sports/ recreational clubs which will enable their continued involvement in sport & physical recreation.
By joining a Wildcats Ative8 club children have had fun, been active and developed their physical literacy skills. If children acquire a broad base of core movement skills and a positive attitude towards physical activity from an early age, they are more likely to become lifelong participants in sport & physical recreation.
The programme currently runs 3 x 10 week programmes within each of the four designated Neighbourhood renewal Areas within the Derry City Council Area (Triax, Waterside, Outer North & Outer West)
