Urban Gaelic Games
Building on the previous post that had been established through a strategic partnership between Derry City Council and Derry County Board of the GAA, Derry City Council have now adopted this post to assist with the development of Gaelic Games throughout the Council area. The programme will assist with the planning and implementation of a sports development programme for the promotion of Gaelic Games, which will address three major objectives:-
- Develop and delivery of a Gaelic Games programme to promote participation within the school, club, community environment in accordance with Fís Feasa 2007-2012 (Derry County Board strategic plan) and Ulster GAA Strategic Vision and Action Plan 2009-2015.
- Assist the identified clubs to develop their human infrastructure to enable them to facilitate the promotion of Gaelic games in the area and with a particular emphasis on increasing the participation of girls and women.
- Assist the identified clubs to develop strong club/school links within their catchment areas.
The priority for the post is within the Derry City Council area and will include the following existing clubs:-
- Ardmore
- Doire Colmcille
- Na Magha
- Na Piarsaigh Doire Trasna
- Sean Dolans
- Steelstown
- Claudy,
- Craigbane
- Slaughtmanus
