Welcome
Recent changes in both EU and national legislation have resulted in significant changes in how Derry City Council deals with waste.
The Council area has seen considerable improvements in recycling over the last number of years; however it remains committed to highlighting the important message of reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.
Whether it’s finding out what bins are due to be collected, knowing how to get bulky items lifted for disposal, learning what items can be recycled or the opening times of our civic amenity sites, this section aims to address any queries you may have in relation to waste management within the Council area.
In addition, we have also included some tips on how you can play your part in improving the quality of our environment, together with a range of ongoing schemes and projects being implemented by the Council to encourage its residents to reduce, reuse and recycle.
