Mayor Alderman Drew Thompson will officially receive

Sean Bean during his visit to the Tower Museum

To donate a personal piece of movie memorabilia

Sean Bean, the celebrated actor , famous for his roles in movies such as ‘Lord of the Rings’, James Bond movie ‘GoldenEye’ and the Television series ‘Sharpe’ will be in the city this weekend to attend a Derry City Football match playing Cork.

During his visit to the city the actor will make a personal donation, from his collection of movie memorabilia, to the Tower Museum. The actor is kindly donating the stick he used when he appeared in the hugely successful Irish film, The Field.

The actor is a keen supporter of Sheffield United, which has links with the Derry club, as noted in the book written by his friend, Brunel University sports lecturer, Dr Gary Armstrong. Sean Bean wrote the foreword to Dr Armstrong’s book, “Sheffield United FC: The Biography”, which is a compilation of stories and memories passed down through various generations of Blade supporters, including details of the connection between the Sheffield and Derry clubs.
