Press ReleaseDress up to win a trip to the 2006 World Cup!!Thursday 29th September 2005The Irish Star today announced details of its Crazy Costume Competition, which will take place as part of the Banks of the Foyle Hallowe’en Carnival outdoor celebrations on the 31st October. This year there’s an extra incentive for Crazy Costume participants to get it just right, with a chance to win a trip for 2 to the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany together with a host of other great prizes!!! Nuala McGee, Festivals Organiser for Derry City Council said that the competition has become an integral part in creating the Carnival atmosphere in the City on the 31st October. “The City is renowned for the effort that everyone makes in putting together the creative selection of Hallowe’en costumes each year. We’re absolutely thrilled that the Irish Star are contributing handsomely again this year, especially when you see the fantastic array of prizes that are on offer. “With the Hallowe’en celebrations only 33 days away, we are confident that local workplaces, businesses, families, visiting friends and relations have already started choosing their own individual looks”. Entry to the competition couldn’t be easier, simply be out and about in the Guildhall Square Family Zone and City Centre from 4.00pm to 7.00 pm when judges will be mingling with the crowds to choose the best costumes. However, ultimately the best place to be seen by the judges will be the Hallowe’en Carnival Costume Parade, which will leave from the top of Shipquay Street at 6.30pm sharp on the evening of the 31st October!! Winning entries will be then be announced by BBC Radio Foyle at the Guildhall Square Family Fun Stage at 7.15 pm approximately. Speaking on behalf of the sponsors, Leane McKinley from the Irish Star said that they were looking forward to another fantastic event. “The Irish Star is delighted to have the opportunity to support this popular Hallowe’en Carnival event for the second year running. Last years entries were outstanding and we’re hoping that the lure of the fantastic prizes we have on offer this year will entice even more participants to think about what they’re going to wear when out and about in the City this Hallowe’en.” This year’s Banks of the Foyle Hallowe’en Carnival will host a series of events starting Monday 24th culminating in the Free Outdoor Carnival of fun, colour, fireworks and Crazy Costume Day on 31st October.
