Information session on Brooke Park regeneration

Monday, 28 June 2010

Derry City Council, supported by its Design Team, is hosting Public Information Sessions on the proposed plans for the Regeneration of Brooke Park at Brooke Park Leisure Centre on Friday 2nd July 2010 between 10.00am – 9.00pm, and on Saturday 3rd July 2010 between 9.00am – 1.00pm.

The plans will be left on display for a further week in the Centre. Council has secured a Stage 1 pass (£1.45million) from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) under their “Parks for People Programme” towards this £4.5 million Regeneration Project. In addition, Council has approved and committed significant expenditure towards this overall project.

As part of the regeneration process, an extensive engagement process is currently underway ranging from user and non-user face-to-face surveys, stakeholder interviews, statutory meeting and monthly process meetings with Brooke Park user.

The proposed plans will be on display for residents/interested parties support, comment and feedback.

John Kelpie, the City Engineer with Derry City Council highlighted the importance of the public attending the information sessions to find out more about the project. “The plans on display are outline at this stage and feedback from residents and interested parties would be most welcome to inform the regeneration of Brooke Park,” he said.

Council has appointed Chris Blandford Associates and Dillon Project Management to support the development of the Stage 2 HLF submission, which will be submitted to the HLF by October this year for approval.
