Press ReleaseRelish to launch their produce at Country Food FairWednesday, 27 October 2004The city is preparing for its next successful Guildhall Country Food Fair, which is due to take place in Guildhall Square on Saturday 30 October, as part of the Banks of the Foyle Halloween Celebrations. The fair comes following the success of the first market which took place in August and will provide local organic and speciality food producers with a unique opportunity to promote the sale and raise awareness of quality local produce. The Guildhall Country Food Fair will commence at 10 am and run through until 3 pm, and will feature a mouth-watering array of fresh produce stalls ranging from organic meat, fish, poultry, vegetables and traditional breads to exotic oysters, mussels, olives, venison and cheese. One of the highlights of the Food Fair will be the launch of a new company called Relish who specialise in speciality food hampers, handmade chocolates and preserves and who will be displaying their produce on the day. Owned and run by Penny Cowper and Sharon Williams, natives of Omagh and Derry, the company was set up earlier this year in an effort to offer the public in the North West more choice of individual food products. “Our aim from the beginning was to create an alternative gift solution that showcased some of the finest artisan products. We produce a selection of produce including handmade chocolates, delicious fudge, baked goods, chutneys and relishes, beverages and ceramic tableware that is beautifully presented in willow hampers and baskets. All of the contents prove memorable and guarantee complete customer satisfaction,” Penny explained. “By offering Irish products we are proud to assist in sustaining employment within the island of Ireland and carry on revered time-honoured production methods. Our suppliers use only superior raw materials and together with secret recipes and skills handed from one generation to the next, we offer products that are guaranteed to impress,” Sharon added. It was through RAPID, NW Marketing and the Women In Enterprise Group that Sharon and Penny were able to develop their idea and ultimately bring their plans to fruition. Hosted by the Rural Area Partnership in Derry (RAPID), Derry City Council, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) and supported by the North West Organic Co-operative, the food fair is funded through the Leader programme.
