25% of Malaga seats sold in first week

Teleticket and Servitour, who just last week announced details of new direct flights from City of Derry Airport to Malaga and Alicante, have revealed that 25% of seats for the Malaga flight have already been sold.

The company have also revealed that due to the level of interest, direct routes to both Malaga and Alicante are now set to depart from as early as Easter of next year.

Expressing her delight at the news, the Commercial Director of Servitour and Teleticket, Ms. Olivia Mullan said interest in the route had exceeded the company’s expectations.

“Obviously we are delighted at the response we have received to date from the public in the North West. Our decision to operate our services from the City of Derry Airport was based on the strong market from the North West region and we feel that the interest in the route to date is extremely encouraging. We are delighted to announce that seats are currently on sale for direct flights to both Malaga and Alicante commencing from 24 March 2005.We are confident that we will soon be in a position to announce details of additional flights from the airport,” she said.

Earlier this month the company announced details of the weekly Malaga and Alicante routes priced at approximately £139 return. One unique aspect of the programme is the fact that 30% of seats are sold in Spain to the Spanish tourist and business market. As a result the company will be actively promoting and marketing the North West region of Ireland to the Spanish market . It is anticipated that up to 2,400 Spanish tourists and business travellers could be making the trip to the North West during the first year.
