Details are available on www.derrycity.gov.uk/halloween

Organised by the Shared City project, the day, which is aimed at children aged 13 and under, will take place on Tuesday 30th October from 12 - 5pm.

Jeanette Warke facilitator of the project said that the event is a fantastic day out for children and explained some of the history.

“Initially we used to host this event in the Workhouse Museum, however due to its popularity we had to move it to the beautiful surroundings of St Columb’s Park House. This is the 7th year that we have run such an event and since we began we have literally had thousands of children through the doors of St Columb’s Park as part of this annual Hallowe’en event.”

“This year we have put together a great programme of events to ensure that both children and parents from across the city have an enjoyable day to really get into the Hallowe’en spirit. I would also like to give a special mention and thanks to the community volunteers who offer their time especially for this event each year.”

Outline of events include pumpkin carving (bring your own pumpkin), Dr Jekyll’s Lab, create your own goody bag, craft workshops together with a range of outdoor activity as Jeanette explained.

“We felt it was important to incorporate a range of outdoor events to promote a healthy and active lifestyle to the children of the city. Activities include a Titanic bouncy castle and a ’chair-o-plane’ amongst a host of games and general Hallowe’en fun.”

“For adult who may be accompanying children on the day we also have a Terrifying Tearoom where they can avail of tea/ coffee and snacks at some scarily good prices!!”

Admission is only £1 and advance booking is essential. For more information contact the Shared City Project on (028) 7132 9144.
