Mayor condemns vandalism

The Mayor, Alderman Drew Thompson has condemned those responsible for vandalising the Galliagh Community House at the weekend.

It is alleged that a window was broken and damage caused to an oil tank on Saturday afternoon, which resulted in the loss of 400 litres of heating oil, belonging to the Galliagh Women’s Group.

Condemning the incident, the Mayor said such an attack was intolerable. “It is sickening that anyone would target a community organisation and leave them without any heating oil. Community groups across the city are struggling as it is with very little resources and the loss of this heating oil is a great inconvenience and cost to this group.”
