Broadband at airport will improve information services

Friday, 22 October 2004

The introduction of Broadband at the City of Derry Airport will greatly improve services to the public, the Airport Manager has said.

“Broadband will greatly improve our ability to provide quicker and more up-to-date information on the live on-line system which details the most up-to-date Arrival and Departure details. It will also speed up our transactions and correspondence with airline customers.

“We would encourage our passengers to avail of the on-line service by logging onto the airport website www.cityofderryairport.com and clicking on departures and arrivals.

“Our passengers expect up-to-date information on their flights that is easily accessible and we believe that the installation of broadband will greatly assist airlines using the airport, to provide this information. The most up-to-date information on arrival and departure times at the airport is accessible from home or the office and is of considerable benefit to our customers.”

The chairman of the Airport Committee, Councillor John Kerr added that the introduction of broadband means that the public no longer need to telephone the terminal building or airline to get up-to-date flight information.

He said: “The new system is particularly beneficial during flight disruptions or delays when telephone systems are often busy. The system is directly linked to the various airlines that use the airport and is updated automatically when airlines update their information. We would encourage to try this system by logging onto the airport website at www.cityofderryairport.com, where a comprehensive information on all airport services and airlines is available.”
