Press ReleaseClassical Music at the Guildhall this weekend22nd September 2005As part of the Northern Ireland Tourist Board’s ‘Be a Tourist at Home’ initiative, a special lunchtime performance by local renowned classical guitarist, Sean Woods, will take place in the Guildhall this Saturday 24th September at 1.00pm. This event has been organised in association with the Classical Music Society. The Guildhall will open it’s doors this weekend as it participates in the inaugural ‘Be a Tourist at Home’ campaign. On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September the City’s civic building will be open for public visits from 10am - 4.30pm. Free guided tours of the building will also be available from 11am - 3.00pm To further entice involvement over the two days voucher booklets with discounts and offers will be available together with a companion booklet detailing all the places involved in the Be A Tourist At Home across Northern Ireland this weekend. Other local participating venues include Glenaden Shirt Factory, Prehen House, St Columb’s Cathedral and the Waterside Theatre. There are also a range of activities that can be availed of including a trip on the River Foyle onboard the Toucan One Cruiser with Foyle Cruise Line, and Walking Tours hosted by the Tourist Information Centre and Free Derry Tours. A number of retail outlets and restaurants have also come onboard offering a range of discounts over the weekend. They include Badgers Bar, the Tourist Information Centre shop, the Donegal Shop, Quaywest and Fitzroy’s restaurant.
