The Maydown facility is currently developing the DuPont Production System (DPS) and the visiting group will be based in the city for 6 months, arriving each Monday and leaving each Thursday to return to their home plant.
Welcoming the group to the city, the Mayor Cllr Paul Fleming said, “DuPont remains as the city's longest standing Foreign Direct Investment company employing 180 staff and celebrating 50 years in the region next year. Such initiatives are incredibly important and represent a commitment by the company to invest in the skills of its staff, maintaining a high profile operation in the city. I hope that the group enjoy their time here and take some time out to discover what the city and the rest of the North West has to offer.”
The visiting Mechelen Team includes Luc Coeckaerts, Gino Van Heel, Nic Van Den Bergh , Ilse Boon and Walle Hoekstra, and they are here to learn and help with the implementation of the DuPont Production System (DPS) being developed at the local Maydown facility. This programme is similar to one undertaken by the Maydown plant, which saw 3 of its employees spending significant time in Uentrop, Germany to lean about this new production system.
The objective of the program is to ensure that all DuPont facilities will operate to a standardised production system that will ensure that DuPont is a top quartile company, respected and revered by other companies.
The main focus areas of implementation are Waste Reduction · Safety · Standardized Work · New Mindsets and Behaviours · Energy Optimization · First Pass First Quality Product · Key Performance Indicators · Current Asset Utilization.
