Press ReleaseGuildhall Square gets ready for big Christmas switch onMonday 19th November 2007There’ll be a hint of Christmas Magic in Guildhall Square this Wednesday 21st November as the city gets ready for Festive Time with the official Christmas Lights switch on. Guest star this year will be Coronations Street’s Steven Arnold, better known as Ashley Peacock, who will perform the official duties alongside the Mayor. Speaking ahead of the annual family extravaganza, Steven Arnold said that he was looking forward to visiting the city. “I am delighted to have been invited to the city to officially switch on the Christmas lights. This will be my first time to the North West and I’m looking forward to a great nights entertainment and of course, it’s not every day that you get the chance to meet Santa Claus in person!!” Entertainment runs in Guildhall Square from 6.30pm - 8.15pm with music by city favourites The Chevy’s together with host BBC’s Mark Patterson. Special guests on stage also include Everest conqueror, Hannah Shields and the cast of the Millennium Forum’s Jack and the Beanstalk pantomime. Santa Claus will also be making his annual appearance ahead of the official switch on at 7.30pm.
