Mayor calls for forward action plan for rail to the North West

17th December 2004

Mayor Councillor Gearóid Ó hEara has called for a forward action plan for rail to the North West. Speaking ahead of a pilot one-day service of the C3K train from NI Railways, which arrives in Derry on Monday 20th 2004, the Mayor said:

“ Monday is an opportunity to experience a rail service that we should expect for the North West and I would encourage the public to make a proactive decision to use the rail service and demonstrate their support for retention and investment in rail services to the region. A forward action plan for investment is essential in sustaining the North West rail-links and bringing this service on a par with other parts of Northern Ireland. The service on Monday afternoon will reinforce the need for a quality rail link to the City".
