Operated by the social enterprise company, Bryson Recycling the “Kerbie” collections allow householders to recycle a wide range of items direct from their home, including glass, clothes, foil, tetrapaks, batteries, oil, paint, tools and small electrical appliances.

The Mayor, Alderman Drew Thompson joined the local Bryson collection crew this week:

“Derry City Council is delighted to introduce this new recycling service, which is completely unique to Northern Ireland. The launch of the black box service is very timely in light of the intense pressure which local authorities are coming under to meet stringent targets in terms of the amount of wastes we send to landfill. This service will undoubtedly help to boost local recycling rates”.

Eric Randall, Director of Bryson Recycling urged local residents to support the service:

“The success of this recycling service is completely dependent on the participation of the local residents and I would urge them to make full use of it. We delivered information leaflets with the boxes with collection calendars, but if residents are unsure of how the service works they can get further information at www.brysonrecycling.co.uk or by contacting our office on 028 9084 8494”.
