Mayor Welcomes New Children's Commissioner

The Mayor, Councillor Helen Quigley has welcomed the appointment of the Lagan Valley MLA Patricia Lewsley as the new Northern Ireland Children’s Commissioner. Ms. Lewsley replaces Nigel Williams who died earlier this year.

Offering her support to the new commissioner, the Mayor said:

“ As commissioner for children and young people, I know Patricia Lewsley will be a powerful, influential and independent voice for all children and young people. I have every confidence in her ability to represent their interests, to protect their rights and to challenge all those who work with and for children to do better.

“ This is an extremely important and valued role and I look forward to working with her when she visits the city in her new role.”
