Love the Change: Information for Shoppers

With shopping days fast running out as we approach Christmas, the city’s retail centres and independent shops have announced late opening until 10 pm each weeknight to facilitate the last minute rush.

The city has more than 3,300 parking spaces available, including 600 free spaces. The Park and Ride Bus Service at Fort George to the city centre is currently operating over the weekend and will commence a daily service from Monday December 19th. The service makes the return trip along Strand Road, via the Diamond and Orchard Street every 15 minutes between 12 noon and 6pm.

The Derry Visitor and Convention Bureau together with the local hotels are encouraging visitors within Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland to come to Derry for shopping by offering great sterling/euro value breaks.

Odhran Dunne of the Derry Visitor and Convention Bureau says “There are some great breaks on offer over the Christmas period. It’s an ideal time to visit Derry and the North West and we’d encourage as many people as possible to do so - a warm welcome awaits you!”

The Derry City Council Christmas website – www.lovethechange.co.uk has been updated to include details of the shopping centre opening times, parking facilities, weekend break offers and events and entertainment over the festive period.

The city offers shoppers bags more shopping and parking, great late nights, more places to stay than ever before and wall to wall things to do over the Christmas period.
