Welcoming the initiative, the Mayor, Cllr Lynn Fleming said: “ This novel shopping experience will represent an opportunity for shoppers to browse around the diversity of stalls and shops in the Walled City Market place and purchase everything from organic foodstuffs to speciality goods and Christmas gifts.” Stephen Kelly, Chief Executive of the City Centre Initiative welcomed

the retail offer in the City. He commented: “This Market initiative
allows existing and new traders an opportunity to profile their businesses,
enhance their customer base and satisfy consumer demand. As Christmas
approaches, it is great to see so many shoppers in this part of the
City”. Commenting in advance of the market, Patricia Duddy from the Duddy Group said " We welcome the Christmas Market as it will draw new customers and bring life and vibrancy to the pedestrian area. We run three businesses in the area and as part of the market promotion we will be offering extra value to customers on the day including 25% of jewellery at Glendennings.” This is one of a series of similar markets supported by Council’s Economic Development Programme and DETI’s EU Building Sustainable Prosperity Programme.
