Press ReleaseFestive Gifts Galore At Guildhall Craft FairThursday, 15 November 2007The Guildhall will be the venue for the crème de la crème of designer arts and crafts this weekend for the annual Derry City Council Craft Fair. Now in its 13th year, the event is the premier showcase for crafts in the North and has attracted textile, jewellery, ceramic and craft exhibitors from all over Ireland with their latest collections Speaking ahead of the official opening of the Guildhall Craft Fair, the Mayor, Alderman Drew Thompson said he was very impressed with the excellent range of produce available and the wealth of craft producers taking part. “The Guildhall Craft Fair is one of the most popular city centre Christmas events and each year it just gets better and better with an array of wonderful handmade products from a wide range of producers. The Guildhall is an ideal location to host this event by creating a warm and festive atmosphere for exhibitors and shoppers alike. Its an excellent opportunity to purchase some unique Christmas gifts and to soak up the festive atmosphere in the city.” The Mayor added that the Guildhall Craft Fair is just one of a range of special events organised for families during the festive season. The Chairman of the Development Committee, Councillor Gerard Diver said he was delighted to be associated with the event. “This is a great Council event aimed at attracting many locals and visitors alike to the Guildhall throughout the weekend to sample a variety of top quality designs and products.” The Craft Fair opens on Friday 16th November from 4pm-8pm; Saturday 17th November from 10am-6pm and Sunday 18th November from 11am-5pm. Entrance fee is £1. The craft fair is supported by the EU Programme for Building Sustainable Prosperity administrated through the Department for Enterprise Trade and Investment.
