Mayor welcomes opening of Timber Quay

Monday, 13 November 2006

The Mayor, Cllr Helen Quigley has welcomed the official opening today of Invest NI 's Speculative Build Project at Timber Quay, as part of the North West Business and Technology Zone.

The Mayor said the project was a clear indication of how cross border co-operation between the IDA and Invest NI can increase the economic opportunities for the entire island of Ireland.

She commented: "This Speculative Build Project is a very welcome news for the city and region. This office space will provide much needed work units for new business growth in the region and will greatly assist in the work to attract new foreign direct investment, which will play an extremely important role in the development of our economy.

" This is a unique development project which will showcase cross border co-operation and reaffirm the region ' s commitment to job creation and support for new business. The business complex is to be located on a prime site along the riverfront and its opening comes at a time when the city' s skill set is available for new investment and job creation.

She added that the Timber Quay development adds to the already extensive office space property and land holding available for investment in the city.

" I would like to congratulate everyone involved in this development project and wish them continued success. I am confident this will be a landmark business project that will help us with our vision to create a vibrant and prosperous city. "
