Press Release
‘No Foul Language’ Campaign
Friday 13th JuneThe Ulster Council GAA will launch its ‘No Foul Language’ Campaign at Rosemount Primary School in the city on Monday 16th June. The campaign will be officially launched by Dr Eugene Young Director of Coaching Ulster Council GAA & DCC Mayor. The campaign which is supported by Derry City Council Urban Gaelic Games Project aims to encourage players, supporters, parents, teachers and coaches to lead the way for our children in terms of thinking before we speak and set an example that we will want them to follow. Mayor Gerard Diver said that he commended any initiative that set a good example for young people and supported the real ethics of good sportsmanship. “It’s essential that we set the right role models and standards for our young people to follow, they take their lead from us and in particular from sporting heroes. Any true sportsman should be an ambassador for fair and dignified behaviour on and off the pitch. I would like to applaud the Ulster Council GAA for this initiative and wish them every success with it.” In support of the NFL campaign, the Urban Gaelic Games Project is giving away wristbands to adults and children alike in an attempt to remind us to think before we speak. These wristbands will be distributed through the Urban Gaelic Games Coaches, through clubs and schools.
