Mayor welcomes Slovenian delegation to the City

Mayor Councillor Lynn Fleming today, Tuesday 8th November, welcomed the UK Slovenian Ambassador his Excellency Iztok Mirosic to the City in a special civic reception at the Guildhall.

The Ambassador, who was accompanied by his wife Mrs Tina Kokalj and Mr Bojan Skoda Economic Counsellor, were visiting the City as part of an extensive familiarisation tour of Northern Ireland.

Welcoming the Ambassador to the area, the Mayor said,

“This visit gives us an excellent opportunity to showcase our City and build relations with our Slovenian visitors together with profiling the economic background of the region. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the Ambassador and his wife to the City, together with rest of the Slovenian delegation, and hope they have a very enjoyable visit.”

After the reception the delegation met with a number business organisations throughout the City including North West Marketing and Londonderry Chamber of Commerce. The visit also included a presentation by Derry City Council’s Economic Development team at the Verbal Arts Centre, which provided the delegation of an economic development overview of the City and Region.
