PRESS RELEASECouncil employee retires after 30 yearsCouncil employee Michael McGeoghan will take his leave from Derry City Council this Thursday, 6th November 2003 after almost 30 years service. In recognition of his long-term service and commitment to Council and to mark his retirement, the Mayor Cllr Shaun Gallagher will meet with Michael and his family at the Guildhall on Thursday, November 06, 2003.
The Acting City Engineer, Mr.Charlie Ferguson paid tribute to Michael and described him as a “loyal, hard working employee, popular with all his colleagues at Pennyburn Depot” where he worked as a Carpenter in the Works Section. “Mickey has been working for Council since July 1974 and his contribution to the Council is greatly appreciated. I am delighted that the Mayor is acknowledging his 30 years service. I would like to take this opportunity to wish him good health and best wishes in his retirement,” he added.
