Mayor welcomes talks agreement

The Mayor Cllr Paul Fleming has welcomed the agreement reached at Stormont between the DUP and Sinn Fein.

Mayor Fleming said: “The breaking news of an agreement around a number of outstanding issues will be broadly welcomed by the citizens of the city and district.

“I would like to commend the elected representatives involved in what was obviously a difficult and protracted negotiation and we now look forward to progress being made on the matters which affect the everyday lives of our communities.

“This is a satisfying day for anyone interested in securing equality and partnership within our society and I hope that the tangible benefits will soon become apparent to us all, ” he concluded.
