Scary Music!!

4th October 2005

Are you part of a scarily good teenage band and would like the chance to perform live to thousands of costumed partygoers on the 31st October? If so, the Banks of the Foyle Hallowe’en Carnival wants you!!

The festival is calling for entries to the Teenage Spooks band competition, which will take place in Victoria Market Car Park on Hallowe'en night. The competition is open to all types of music as long as you're in a band and most importantly between the ages of 13 - 19 years of age.

The closing date for entries is next Wednesday, 12th October so there's no time to loose. Send in an entry form in for a chance of an audition, which will take place on Saturday 15th October at the Waterside Theatre (10am - 1pm) and the Nerve Centre (2.30 - 5.30pm). Those bands who successfully pass the audition stages will then go forward to performing at the Teenage Spooks Final in Victoria Market Car Park on the 31st October, which will be a designated Alcohol Free Zone.

Derry City Council’s Festival Organiser, Nuala McGee said that this competition provides a fantastic platform for up and coming local bands.

“With a wealth of undiscovered young talent currently existing in the City at the moment we wanted to add something to the annual Hallowe’en Carnival that would embrace this. The Teenage Spooks competition is set to be a fantastic event showcasing some top class music whilst providing an opportunity for local teenage bands to gain invaluable exposure.”

Entry forms to the Teenage Spooks competition are currently available by telephoning the Carnival Information line on (028) 71376545 or by simply clicking on the official Hallowe’en festival website www.derrycity.gov.uk/halloween.
