Press ReleaseMayor welcomes Seagate investmentThursday, 03 July 2008The Mayor, Councillor Gerard Diver has welcomed the £120 million investment announced by Seagate Technology at its Springtown plant in the city today. Speaking following this morning’s announcement, the Mayor paid tribute to the company’s management and workforce in Derry by stating that the investment was a strong endorsement of the high quality product produced in the Springtown plant, and that it was also a clear signal of the company’s ongoing commitment to the region. “Seagate is one of our major employers, and the news that the company intends to spend £120 million of its own money on new equipment, IT, research and development infrastructure at Springtown, is a good news story for our local economy in what are very challenging times from a global perspective. This demonstrates that Derry is open for business, competitive and able to attract major investment of this scale from the knowledge based sector” Ends For additional information contact:Press OfficeTel: 028 71 376504Fax: 028 71 264858 Helena Hasson Email: Helena.Hasson@derrycity.gov.uk Adele McCourt Email: Adele.McCourt@derrycity.gov.uk Claire Lundy Email: Claire.Lundy@derrycity.gov.uk |
