Press ReleaseViews Sought on Play Facilities for the Council areaWednesday 2nd July 2008Members of the public are being encouraged to take part in a consultation process that is being carried out by Derry City Council, Ilex and Derry Children’s Commission as part of its plans to produce a Play Plan and to determine future play needs across the Council area. The consultation process is ongoing with the closing date for responses at the end of the summer. The public are being encouraged to participate and have their say on play provision in the area. Questionnaires have been issued to all local schools, community groups and stakeholder groups to ascertain their views on current play provision and play needs. In addition, parents and carers are encouraged to log onto www.derrycity.gov.uk/consultation and www.ilex-urc.com to access the online questionnaire and share their views. An audit of existing facilities has already been undertaken to measure the current state of play and this information will form the baseline of the Plan for future provision. Council, Ilex and the Children’s Commission will engage in wider discussions with the public throughout the City and District and a series of public meetings are being arranged for later this month and during August. We would encourage the public to share their views on play provision for the future of the area by attending the public meetings or by completing an online questionnaire.
